Indigo & Snow

Greetings.
I have been absent from my blog for almost a year. I have been busy moving, remodeling, and recovering from the worst fire in WA history.  Thank goodness our new home did not burn, but many have lost everything. I have to say, our community here is amazing.

Just wanted to share my 2 latest paintings for the new show at Confluence Gallery, in Twisp WA.

Willow basket

Snowy greetings! Well I just finished my latest project, a willow basket. I have some pics from beginning to end. I harvested some weeping willow this winter and some red osier dogwood, which I used in this basket.
Getting started is the hard part. Here I'm starting to work up with the twining. Rock helps to hold it in place.
Weeping willow has a greeny yellow color right now, more yellow in summer time.
I put red osier dogwood on top for some interest and color.
I love the variations of hues the willow naturally has in the bark.
Here is the completed basket bound on the edge with a rice stalk twine for stability and strength.
